Superior Heights Call
Last evening, officers with the Patrol Services Division of The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service received a report of a potential threat to students at Superior Heights Collegiate and Vocational School.

Officers responded to that call for service and began an investigation to determine the validity of the threat. As this investigation continued, officers liaised with staff from Superior Heights and The Algoma Distinct School Board to ensure the safety of all staff and students.

Today, staff from The Algoma District School Board utilized their school messaging system to notify staff, students and families that access to the school would be limited as the investigation was conducted.

Officers have now completed the investigation. It has been determined that there is no threat to the safety of staff or students and full access to the school has been restored.

Officers have spoken to all parties involved. It has been determined that a student made an inappropriate comment that was overhead and perceived as a threat by another student. There was no criminal intent behind this comment and no criminal charges will be laid.

Officers with The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service will continue to work with our partners at The Algoma District School Board to fully investigate any threat made regarding the safety of students and to ensure the safety of anyone attended local schools.
