The Sault Airport Development Corporation is taking the first step in selling off portions of what they consider surplus property.  City council will consider at Monday’s meeting a rezoning application from the not-for-profit development corporation to rezone about 67-acres of property at the end of Nokomis Beach Road from Airport Zone to Residential Zone.  Development Corporation CEO Terry Bos says the property which includes 700 feet of water frontage is being sold to facilitate up to two new residential dwellings…

Bos says this would be the first such sale of airport property identified as surplus in a business land use master plan that was completed a couple of years ago…

Bos says this first transaction will provide the airport with around a half million dollars.

At the October 11th meeting, city council will be asked to approve a rezoning application from the Sault Career Community Centre for the former Blessed Sacrament Church.
The applicant is looking for council’s o’kay to establish a business incubator for a group of small start-up businesses on the ground floor.  The applicant is also seeking approval to permit up to 16 dwelling units within the existing building and reduce the required parking from 37 to 21 spaces.
