Saturday February 27, 2016, will mark five years since the  body of 48-year old Todd Alan Petrie was discovered in his Albert Street East apartment in the city of Sault Ste. Marie.
Since that time, investigators from the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service (SSMPS) and the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), under the direction of Detective Inspector Shawn Glassford of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) have been dedicated to finding the person(s) who murdered Mr. Petrie and are determined that their hard work will bring the killer or killers to justice.
“A crime like this can impact a community for years, but it is important for the public to know that this investigation remains active and ongoing. We believe someone has the information that will identify the person or persons who carried out this callous act” – Detective Inspector Glassford.
In November 2012, the Government of the Province of Ontario authorized a $50 000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for the murder of Mr. Petrie. This reward remains in place and available.
Detective Inspector Glassford states “I am confident that with input from the public,  together we can solve this crime. If you know who murdered Todd Alan Petrie, please call Police (OPP -1-888-310-1122; SSMPS – (705) 949-6300), or call Crime Stoppers. Anonymous tips can also be made by calling Sault Crime Stoppers at (705) 942-7687 or online at www.saultcrimestoppers.com“.
