SAULT STE. MARIE, ON – October 4, 2019 – October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and to kick off this campaign, the Sault Ste. Marie Paramedics have been wearing custom pink epaulettes to create awareness and generate conversation in the community. Primary Care Paramedic Kylie Pratt is spearheading the group’s efforts and fundraising throughout the month of October.

“As Paramedics we are unfortunately all too often witness to the hurt that cancer can put patients and their families through. Discussing this opportunity among ourselves at the Paramedic station we all decided that we wanted to try and do whatever else we can to help those affected by this terrible disease,” said Pratt.

In their efforts to raise money for breast cancer research, Pratt said that Paramedics will be placing donation bins at many local restaurants and businesses. She’s asking that people please visit the following locations that have partnered with the Paramedics and donate whatever they can as every little bit helps!

” Vibe Eatery & Juice Co
” Scott’s Coffee Co
” Feeding Your Soul Café
” OC Hair Bath & Body Co
” Identity Salon
” Onofrio’s Kitchen Bath Flooring and Lighting
” Creative Nest Studio

On Saturday, October 12th, Paramedics will be raising awareness and collecting donations outside at Rome’s Independent Grocer at the Cambrian Mall as well as at Pino’s Get Fresh on Trunk Road from 10am-4pm. Please take a minute to stop and visit with the Paramedics to donate and discuss this important subject!

On Sunday, October 20th, Paramedics will be hosting a “Paint A Pumpkin” Event with all of the proceeds being donated to fund breast cancer research. More details on this event will be available soon.

“If anyone is unable to visit the above locations or attend the events this month but would still like to support the Paramedics’ fundraising efforts, we would welcome their donation online on the Canadian Cancer Society website,” said Pratt.
