A Sault Ste. Marie woman has been managing a Facebook page dedicated to supplying personal protective equipment in response to the COVID-19 outbreak and its impacts.
Brittany Bernatchez says the Facebook group name is ‘Million Masks Challenge SSM’ and it brings together those that request products, or provide supplies along with those can make the products which has included face masks, caps and what is termed ear savers.
Brittany says ear savers can be in the form of head bands that protect the skin from the wear of face mask elastics when masks are worn over long shifts.
She says they have supplied products to Sault Area Hospital, long-term care homes, grocery stores and truckers and they have also served individual requests…

Out of the 500, Brittany says there are about 30 to 50 dedicated volunteers that make the products which include face masks, caps and ear savers.
Brittany says they have made masks meeting the pattern requests of Sault Area Hospital and ARCH and produced over 7-thousand protective gear products overall.
