Sault Ste. Marie, ON (2020 05 04) – In light on COVID-19 and physical distancing guidelines, Senior Services for the City of Sault Ste. Marie has altered its program delivery methods. Citizens aged 55+ can now access programming by telephone and video conference.

“The goal of our senior services is to keep people healthy, happy, and connected to their community and each other,” said Virginia McLeod, Manager of Recreation and Culture for the City of Sault Ste. Marie. “We want to continue to deliver seniors programing and, given the current pandemic, our staff has changed the way they deliver services and interact with citizens.”

For the month of May, all Active 55+ programs, including fitness and social forums, will be delivered by telephone or video conference. “We’re here to deliver programs that support citizens ages 55+ and, as the current situation changes, we’ll continue to evaluate our delivery models,” said Jennifer Amadio, Supervisor of Senior Services for the City of Sault Ste. Marie. “We’re adapting to meet the needs of local residents.”
