Sault Ste. Marie, ON – May 15, 2020 – WE’RE STILL MAKING STRIDES – even if we aren’t together. The Sault Ste. Marie YMCA is proud to be hosting the first ever YMC’EH Canada Day VIRTUAL 5K Run/Walk during this uncertain time of social distancing! This event is open to all members of the public and is suitable for any fitness level. The event follows a six-week virtual training module that gets you ready to run 5K on July 1st – Canada Day!

This a great opportunity to get outdoors and be active all while supporting your local community. All proceeds from this event will go to the Strong Communities Campaign that focuses on providing access and resources to proven YMCA programs that allows kids, youth, adults, seniors and families the opportunities to reach their potential and live healthier, happier lives.

“The Virtual Run is a great way to stay active and support the Y in a time where more than ever there is a need for our programs and services” says Tracey Cooke, Chief Executive Officer at the Sault Ste. Marie YMCA. “It is for all ages and capabilities and we have partnered with the Sault Stryders to help with training along the way.”

Since this event is completely virtual, you will receive access to the training modules upon registration. You will also be added to a Facebook Group that allows you to post about your progress, share words of encouragement to others, or watch training videos. Training starts on Wednesday, May 20th so be sure to REGISTER today!
