CHIPPEWA County, Michigan – Our community has worked hard and contributed to the
low incidences of COVID-19 in Chippewa County. Under Executive Order 2020-110, we
are no longer required to stay home. With that in mind, we understand many people are
eager to go places and gather with friends and family. It is important to remember that
while outside of our homes, each of us is personally responsible to minimize the risk of
further infection and ensure the health system capacity is not overburdened.
By keeping with physical distancing and wearing a face cover in public when we are
unable to maintain a minimum six feet from non-household members, along with
frequent hand washing and disinfecting, we can prevent a greater wave of infection in our
community. Our actions make a difference.
The virus spreads person-to-person between people who are in close contact with one
another through respiratory droplets when an infected person coughs, sneezes or talks.
Public gatherings increase the likelihood of infection. Even if you do not have symptoms,
you could still be a carrier of the virus. Please protect others, especially those who are at
a higher risk of severe complications from the disease.
If you are feeling sick, please stay home. Individuals with symptoms of COVID-19,
including fever, cough, or shortness of breath are encouraged to contact their provider by
phone or utilize War Memorial Hospital’s drive-thru screening to see if testing is
necessary, available Monday-Friday, 10:00 a.m.- 4:30 p.m. in the War Memorial Hospital
Emergency Room parking lot.
