ForestFireBy the time of this report two new fires have been reported today. Both Cochrane 13 and Cochrane 14 are being observed in the far north just south of James Bay. Cochrane 12 is not under control but crews are currently working on the fire.

The fire hazard for today ranges from low to extreme. Central areas of the region are the areas of concern. From Sault Ste. Marie to Elliot lake we are seeing an extreme fire hazard today while areas near Sudbury Timmins, Cochrane, Hearst, Chapleau and Wawa are all showing a high hazard.

Out Of Province 

Ontario has 44 staff members on deployment in the Northwest Territories. Our 20 person FireRanger crews have joined three aircraft, an Air Attack Officer, an Agency Representative and a Fire Behavior Analyst. Later this week, Ontario is also planning on sending resources to other provinces in need including Alberta and Saskatchewan.
