The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service and Circle K have come together to implement the Safe Place Program in all local Circle K stores.
The initiative encourages all victims of crime and any community members in need of police assistance to report incidents at designated businesses displaying the Safe Place decal. A Safe Place decal will be featured in the front window of the nine local Circle K stores.
For the Safe Place Initiative to be a success, the community must believe and trust that it will work. Circle K provides training to all employees so they are able to help people in a time of need and notify police.
“Circle K is excited to once again partner with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service to reinforce our shared commitment of enhancing community safety,” said Sean Sportun, Security Manager for Circle K Central Canada. “The Safe Place Program will be an added step in upholding positive encounters with the community, which will only build and foster lasting relationships for a safer community.”
“As a Police Service, we are proud of the many partnerships we have with local businesses and service agencies,” said Sergeant Rob Chabot, Supervisor of the Community Mobilization Unit. “The safety of this community is our priority, and with the support of great partners like Circle K we are able to provide that service in a variety of ways.”
