Sault Ste. Marie, ON (2020 10 27) – The City of Sault Ste. Marie is pleased to announce the kick-off to its annual Toys for Tickets campaign. The program invites every person who receives a parking ticket from November 1 to December 1, 2020 to pay the fine amount by donating a new children’s toy of equal or greater value to support the community’s Christmas Cheer efforts.

“The Toys for Tickets campaign program takes a positive approach to getting a ticket and highlights our community’s generosity. Individuals will often spend more than the required fine amount in the form of a newly purchased toy which in turn helps support families in need in our community. We are happy to support this initiative in Sault Ste. Marie,” says Brent Lamming, Director of Community Services.

To donate, every person who receives a parking ticket during the month of November, excluding accessible parking fines can bring their parking ticket with an unwrapped toy in its original packaging and proof of purchase to the Transit main office at 111 Huron Street in Sault Ste. Marie. Donations of more than one toy are accepted as long as the value of the toy equals or exceeds the amount owing on the fine. Partial payments in the form of a toy and the remainder in monetary funds are not accepted. Gift cards will not be accepted. Toys must be provided to Transit by December 11, 2020 to qualify. All toys will be included as part of the community’s Christmas Cheer efforts.
