Marie can experience the 2015 Pan Am/Parapan Am Games up close and in person, when the Pan Am/Parapan Am torch arrives in our city today announced David Orazietti, MPP.   “Our government is proud to support Sault Ste. Marie’s torch relay celebrations, helping to generate excitement across the province as we get closer to the opening ceremonies” said Orazietti.  “This will be an ideal opportunity for people in this community to be a direct part of the 2015 Games and to experience the excitement and fun of a unique international event.”   Sault Ste. Marie’s Pan Am/Parapan Am torch festivities on June 1st will feature a musical performance by The Hustle Brothers followed by presentations and speeches from community representatives and the torch arrival and cauldron lighting.   Through Ontario’s Torch Relay Community Grant, funding is being provided to 67 communities, helping to spur community involvement and enthusiasm through local art, sport and music. The Torch Relay Community Grant is part of Ontario’s $40 million strategy to ensure everyone in the province benefits from the 2015 Games, and more than 3,000 torchbearers will be part of the Pam Am Games Torch Relay.   Supporting a memorable and successful 2015 Games is part of the government’s plan to build Ontario up. The four-part plan includes investing in people’s talents and skills, making the largest investment in public infrastructure in Ontario’s history, creating a dynamic, innovative environment where business thrives, and building a secure retirement savings plan.
