Some advice from the Ontario Chamber of Commerce in terms of how to improve tourism in the province and a report stresses the need for better supports for tourism businesses and more of a commitment to marketing what the province has to offer.
The report refers to the need for our province to close the 16-billion dollar tourism gap—–local Chamber of Commerce CEO Rory Ring says Ontario is not growing as fast as other tourist destinations and he points to the state just south of us as an example…

Ring says there is also the need to cut the red-tape faced by tourism businesses.
Red-tape challenges include labour law, environmental regulations, regulations for start-ups and high hydro costs among other issues.
Ring says in terms of labour laws, the province is proposing changes that will pose significant constraints on the business community in terms of the formations of unions in workplaces…

It’s recommended that tourism be added to the province’s red tape challenge—-a current consultation process looking to potentially cut regulations considered unnecessary that cost Ontario businesses money and time.
