If you have ever been frustrated in terms of trying to report a scam through the toll free number to the Canadian Anti Fraud Centre, take heart in knowing they recognize it is a problem.  Facebook posts on the Centre’s web site indicate the frustration with one posting saying they always ended up with the message our agents are all busy—try again later—–this after 3 days of trying.  Senior Fraud Specialists Daniel Williams out of North Bay says he recognizes the problem but he encourages people to keep trying especially if they’ve lost money.  Williams says there are in the range of 13-thousand callers a day trying to get through and he says they are able to answer 200 to 300 of those calls…

Williams says that small slice that they are actually able to gather is more than law enforcement is able to use.  He says there is also the option of reporting online to the Centre.     Williams points to the number of calls that go out each year in Canada with this one type of scam…

Williams says their workload increased immensely with scammers reaching more people much easier by way of the internet…
