Sault MP Terry Sheehan talks about Tuesday’s funding announcement for the Commnunity Development Corporation of Sault Ste. Marie and Area.

Sault MP Terry Sheehan announced 900 thousand dollars for the Community Development Corporation of Sault Ste. Marie and area on Tuesday.  The money from FedNor will be distributed over a three year period and will help the CDC continue to help grow small and medium-sized businesses to build and grow.  The funding is timely given the state of the local economy with troubles at both Essar and Tenaris.  Sheehan was asked about whether today’s announcement was reactionary to recent comments made by Sault MPP David Orazietti and the city’s Economic Development Corporation…

Sheehan gives an example of how this money will help the community…

One of the variables that the CDC will continue to offer through the funding is access to capital.  Sheehan says this could help any new business get their doors open and up and running.  Sheehan made the announcement on behalf of Minister Responsible for FedNor Navdeep Bains.  He added that the minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development will be visiting Sault Ste. Marie in the near future.
