Sault Ste. Marie: Great Lakes Honda, is pleased to announce the winner of the Spot the Civic campaign! Chelsey Forbes cried tears of joy as her name was announced as the winner of the 2016 Honda Civic LX! Chelsey and her two-year-old son were active participants in the year-long Spot the Civic event. She posted many selfies, one almost every day for her chance to win the Spot the Civic vehicle.

What Chelsey Had to Say About Winning

Great Lakes Honda had contacted a few of the active participants after the winner’s name had been drawn to ask them a few questions about what they loved most about the Spot the Civic campaign.

When asked about how winning Spot the Civic would impact her life Chelsey responded, “Winning would massively change mine and my son’s life. I’ve never been able to afford a vehicle, I’m a single mom doing everything on my own and going to school for a 3-year advanced diploma in Child & Youth work to better myself. It would be a huge life improvement, getting to and from class and getting groceries. Plus, when I start working it’ll be much easier to bring my son to

Plus, when I start working it’ll be much easier to bring my son to and from daycare! This will give me an opportunity to spend that precious time with him, everything I do is for him! Time is even more important now especially since the prices of bus fare are being raised again, it just makes everything that much harder and that much more expensive. They also cut the bus schedule as well, so finding a job with flexible hours will be difficult.”

When asked about how she would respond if she won Chelsey stated “I’ll probably just cry and shake and I’d cry tears of joy. It’s so weird – I feel like I don’t know what to do with my time anymore since Spot the Civic ended haha, I was thinking the other day, I have 20 minutes to kill, but I can’t even go Spot the civic anymore, because the contest is over. I feel like I’m there almost every day!”
We were also curious to know when Chelsey had started to get serious with her entries into the Spot the Civic draw she said, “I started spotting the civic in June at the big picnic community event. Karl, one of the guys who worked for Honda approached me and started telling me all about the campaign! I couldn’t believe a business would give away a car! I was so excited, and from there I was hooked! My son and I followed the Civic every Tuesday, to every event & took our selfies with the Spot the Civic car! My son won’t even let me take a selfie any more without him, it’s hilarious”

Francine Floreani, the owner and Dealer Principal at Great Lakes Honda had this to say about the selected winner, Chelsey Forbes. “I’m so glad to see someone deserving win, we had many deserving people who entered and it’s a really great feeling to know that we potentially changed Chelsey’s and Chelsey’s son’s life! When we started Spot the Civic, the whole idea was to get those in the community out there and active and participating in events put on by our community partners! To know we did that and more is all we could ever ask for. It’s a sad day for our team here at Great Lakes Honda, they were just as excited about the campaign as I was. Congratulations to Chelsey again! I’m sure we’ll still continue to see her around town in the Spot the Civic car”

Thank you again to all of those in our community who took their time to show support for the Spot the Civic campaign!

Congratulations again to Chelsey Forbes, a hard-working & deserving winner of the Spot the Civic vehicle!
