If this was hockey, and not U.S. politics, you’d likely say…”Wow, this year’s draft class is weak”…

Amid a presidential primary season that offered voters a lot of choices, beginning with a whopping 17 candidates on the Republican side and five Democratic candidates, a new Associated Press-GfK poll found that Americans aren’t all that thrilled with the five candidates that remain in the race, with a majority saying that none of them represents their opinions at least “somewhat well”. Even within their own parties, their isn’t a lot of enthusiasm for the frontrunners, with just 26 percent of Democrats saying they’d be excited about Hillary Clinton being the nominee and just 19 percent of Republicans saying the same about Donald Trump. In fact, of all the remaining candidates, only Democratic Senator Bernie Sanders has significantly more positive ratings than negative ones, with 48 percent of Americans saying they have a favorable opinion of him compared to 39 percent unfavorable. By comparison, nearly 70 percent of Americans have an unfavorable view of Trump, nearly 60 percent have an unfavorable view of Senator Ted Cruz, and 55 percent have an unfavorable view of Clinton. As for Governor John Kasich, Americans are split, with 34 percent having a favorable view and 31 percent unfavorable, while 34 percent saying they don’t know enough about him to give an opinion.
