The Trans Canada at Nipigon, east of Thunder Bay  is open again … with traffic across the just recently opened Nipigon River Bridge re-opened in one lane- this after a expansion joint on the bridge failed leaving the east side of the bridge about 2 feet higher.   The bridge just opened less than two months ago and demolision got underway on the old bridge. The bridge was closed around 3:00 yesterday afternoon with the only detour a lengthy one taking hours along the south shore of Lake Superior through Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. After a quick inspection this morning it was determined the bridge was safe to re-open to one lane shortly after 9am.
