Saturday, Sept. 3, 2018–Sault Ste. Marie, ON – Sault MP Terry Sheehan and Canada’s Minister of Small Business and Tourism Bardish Chagger, met with members of the local business community today. A wide variety of items were discussed including her proposal for more efficient communication between small business and the federal government, and new growth opportunities in tourism. She asked those at the table how the federal government can best make strategic investments so that growth can take place for small businesses. Discussion also touched on the government’s recent strategy to cut taxes to small business. That tax rate is down one per cent to 10 per cent this year, and will be cut to 9 percent in 2019. This move will put an average of $7,500 back in the pockets of small business owners, each year. Attendees included representatives from the Chamber of Commerce, the Community Development Corporation, the Economic Development Corporation and Tourism, as well as a number of individual entrepreneurs.
