Sault MPP Ross Romano says increasing the NOHFC budget by 50% over 3-years is a good thing and neccessary.
Yesterday’s Ontario budget commits the government to raising the annual budget from 100-million to 150-million dollars.
Romano says he would like to see the government take it a step further by improving the application process to remove some limitations…

Romano says there hasn’t been significant job growth under the program considering the government has invested one billion dollars over the last 10-years.
He adds that opening the program to community development would assist in addressing the socio-economic and infrastructure challenges faced by First Nations in the Ring of Fire area.
He says at this point new PC Leader Doug Ford hasn’t come up with a position in regards to the northern Ontario economic agency…

Ross says he will continue to advocate for changes including an immediate increase to the budget bringing it to 200-million.
