The hospital division of CUPE is trying to illustrate to communities in the province what local hospitals will look like when the new Ford Government implements its campaign promise to cut 4% from Ontario’s budget, implement tax cuts while at the same time planning on balancing the books.
The Ontario Council of Hospital Unions President Michael Hurley was in the Sault yesterday morning and says the local hospital is already dealing with an overcrowding problem which needs to be addressed…

Hurley says the northeast is already facing numerous challenges without the anticipated cuts the union is projecting for both the Sault Area Hospital and the North Shore Health Network…

The Union is projecting that with the Ford budget measures, the Sault Area Hospital will face a loss of 8 to 17 beds, 65 to 141 jobs and bed occupancy will increase to 115%.
For the North Shore Health Network, it would mean an estimated loss of 1 to 3 beds and 7 to 15 jobs.
